Tom Simoneau joins California Wine Country with Steve Jaxon, Dan Berger and Harry Duke, to discuss the Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience, this May 20-22.
The studio is full of guests today. Karissa Kruse from the Sonoma County Winegrowers is here with Steve De Veres. They are organizing the Healdsburg Food and Wine Experience. Award-winning pizza chef Leah Scurto from Pizzaleah is also here and she brought pizza! Christopher O’Gorman, director of communication for Rodney Strong Winery and Justin Seidenfeld, VP of viticulture and winemaking at Rodney Strong make this the most populous show ever.
(Justin Seidenfeld and Christopher O’Gorman also talk about the 2022 Rodney Strong Concert Series and the Rodney Strong wines that Justin brought to the studio, in the next podcast episode, right here, and this episode is all about Pizzaleah.)
An All-Encompassing Event
This year’s edition is intended as the inaugural edition of the Healdsburg Wine & Food Experience and the organizers hope to make it an annual event. Karissa describes their intention to make it an all-encompassing event. It started as a dream that came to them during Covid. They asked themselves how they could create an international wine and food event to raise the profile of agriculture and positive sustainability trends in the region.
Steve De Veres has spent the last 20+ years representing Food and Wine magazine and describes his efforts on the project. He talks about having done promotional events all over the country, going everywhere but wine country. So he is happy to do one at home this time. He also gives special credit to the Rodney Strong winery. They are donating the use of their fine concert venue for a performance at the Healdsburg Wine & Food Experience. Also, there are special ticket prices for Healdsburg residents.
